Feral rooster trying to take up residence!

In the “you can’t make this up” category, we had a feral rooster show up today. He made himself quite at home in my chicken’s enclosure, eating the food and rounding up some of the older ladies. The young roosters/pullets did NOT like this, were highly stressed, and hid out all day. Thank goodness for @RadSonOne who was able to catch the rooster when he’d bedded down for the night in a small tree inside the pen. He’s now contained and we’ll decide tomorrow if we’ll just re-home him somewhere in the wilds or butcher him.

They just make themselves right at home, here, don’t they! Good food and some nice hens. I vote for butcher. Makes a nice chicken stock.

Chicken soup is guaranteed to cure crowing. One of the few home remedies which is absolutely guaranteed to work.
